California live oak. This tree was diseased and came down on a Los Altos property. The owner, having played on this tree as a child, wanted to keep the tree as part of the family home, so he milled the tree, dried the slabs, and commissioned us to build furniture pieces from it. This entire table was constructed from the same tree, all the way down to the pins in the trestle legs. Designed to be placed behind a sofa to display family photos catching the natural light from a large window behind it.
