Rendle Media Table

Reclaimed doug fir from the Mira Loma Quartermaster Depot built in 1942. It is not every day that a client tells us that they want something that looks old and heavily used. We bought this lumber in 20’ lengths, so the tricky part of this build was hiding every single cut edge, planed surface, and sanded face. The patina from decades of use had to be preserved to maintain the utilitarian and primitive look. We then had to find a creative way to remove the splintery, rough surface of the wood without taking off the patina. To do this, we scraped the wood with wire brushes and beat it with wooden mallets to soften the fibers.

Reclaimed doug fir (1942). Chiseled mortises to support bottom shelf. Finished with water based topcoat and sanded lightly.
